Like many equestrians, Kristen got bit by the horse fly early in life, quickly saw success in Eventing as well as Dressage, and continues to achieve her goals at the highest levels. She's created a strong community of students, owners, and their horses who are inspired by Kristen's passion and dedication. Not only does she manage a thriving lesson and training business, but also holds a full-time job outside of horses!

Q&A with Kristen
Q:
First, take us back to the beginning – how did you get your start with horses?
A:
It all started when I was 6, dabbling into riding here and there. The house that I grew up in was right across from Maple Spring Farm. Pretty much right when I turned eight, I started taking group lessons, my parents bought me my first horse, Bayberry and the rest is history. I’ve been riding ever since then.
Q:
How many horses are currently in your program, and what are their goals for 2022?
A:
I have two horses that I’m currently riding and competing. I hope to continue at the I1 level with Ivan and compete Monte in more dressage shows and event him as well.
Q:
What’s one of your favorite training exercises?
A:
So many to choose from! Probably incorporating cavaletti's to work on adjustability, cadence, tempo, straightness, and regularity.
Q:
How do you stay motivated to continue improving yourself and your horses?
A:
I have always wanted to be the best rider possible for any of my horses, so that’s always motivated me to train, ride and work harder each and every day.
Q:
What do you enjoy outside of the barn/riding?
A:
Spending time with my husband and family, and working out. I also have a full-time job for the Howard Soil Conservation District as a Conservation Planner. I’ve been with the district for 14 years now.
