Kristen Parris
Kristen got her first horse, Bayberry at the age of 10, and started showing by the age of 11. Not until later in her riding did she discover eventing. Kristen grew up in 4-H, where she actively showed pigs, cattle, lambs and rabbits. Kristen was an active member of Pony Club from 1995 until she graduated from Redland Hunt Pony Club in 2009. She credits her breakthrough into eventing to her horse A Deck Above. Kristen climbed the levels of eventing with Decker and successfully competed up to Training level in Eventing.
In 2007, Kristen and A Deck Above were awarded 3rd in the Nation for Adult Amateur Training Rider, and 4th in the Nation for Adult Training rider.
Decker set the bar high for Kristen's first home-bred No Halo Here, "Briley". Briley is now successfully competing at the Preliminary level and started off the 2011 season by winning their first CIC1* at Fair Hill International on their dressage score of 51! They capped off the season with a 1st Place win at the Preliminary Championships at the Virginia Horse Trials in Lexington, VA. Kristen's other competition horse, Lord Ivanhoe "Ivan" moved up to Training in May of 2011 and in the 7 trials they competed at Training level, they placed in the top 5 in all but 2 events. They capped off 2011 by winning the Area II, 3-Day Training Event at Waredaca with a score of 29, the best in all 3 Divisions competing that weekend!
Kristen was also ranked 36th (out of 188) and 39th (out of 1,355) in 2011 on the United States Equestrian Federation's (USEF) Leader Boards for Eventing in "Leading Breeders" and "Leading Owners" respectively. A huge accomplishment for Kristen and her team which clearly demonstrates her drive and talent in eventing. Kristen breeds and trains her own horses, Briley since birth and Ivan since 6 months of age. Kristen broke her other homebred, Flirtin' with the Truth "Bailey" in November 2010 and she will officially start competing in the spring of 2012. Bailey was born in 2008, and was sired by Salute the Truth, out of her own broodmare Flirtin' with my Daisy Dukes "Daisy". This filly has exceptional conformation and a temperament that is so sweet.
